Business information services
I specialise in researching the World's stock exchanges and other financial markets, global public and private companies, economies and rich lists. I have a wide-ranging library which includes a significant collection of pre-1980 data, such as company rankings, UK economic statistics, and UK stock market records that may be impossible to locate elsewhere.
I worked for the Financial Times in London for 35 years, from 1973 until 2008, providing a research and library service to journalists initially, before moving into the FT's commercial operation - the FT Business Information Service, later renamed the FT Research Centre.
I later became Senior Researcher, specialising in financial markets and corporate information - mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, IPOs, stock market performance etc. The Research Centre was closed in early 2008, and I formed Markets Information and Research Ltd in April 2008 to provide a service that the FT no longer offered. Although the company ceased operating in June 2013 the service continues under my own name.
I provided detailed information for the Financial Times' annual 'FT500' and 'Dividend and Results Schedule' surveys from 2004 to 2009, with Markets Information and Research Ltd taking over when the FT Research Centre ceased operation.
I am based near Whitstable in Kent, South East England.
